You looked out the plane window excitedly. This was you first time on a plane, and you were going to your boyfriend’s home country, Iceland. Reykjavik, Iceland, to be exact.

(If you live in Iceland, or anywhere you can see the northern lights, pretend you live somewhere south.)

Emil, your said boyfriend, glanced at you in amusement. You always got excited about doing something or going somewhere new. And he liked that about you. Heck, he liked everything about you. That’s why he asked you to go along with him back to his home country for a few weeks.

Suddenly, the plane jutted forward; it was taking off. You nervously grabbed onto Emil’s hand, but still kept your gaze outside the window. Emil gently squeezed your hand reassuringly. He had done this many times before, so he had no worries. You watched in awe how the plane went faster and faster. Your eyes widened when the plane lifted upward, causing it to go airborne. You watched with a awestruck smile at how everything grew smaller and smaller, until you could barely make out the roads anymore. As the captains voice came over the speakers, telling everyone it was okay to unbuckle and take out their electronics, you glanced over at Emil. He smiled at you, before pulling his book out of the pouch behind the seat in front of him.

“How long is the plane ride supposed to last again?” You asked Emil. You were taking the nighttime plane, which meant you were flying to Iceland over the night. You were wondering if you should just sleep through the ride, or wait it out.

“About 9 hours.” He shortly replied. You frowned, and then turned your gaze back over to the window. Emil just went back to reading, his cool hand still grasping yours. For about 30 minutes, you stared out the planes window, trying to guess what everything was. Growing bored, you glanced over at Emil, who was still reading. Sighing, you just leaned your head against his shoulder, and closed your eyes. Emil just softly smiled, and leaned his head against yours. After a while, you drifted off to sleep, Emil soon following after you.

    “_____. _____, wake up.”

You lazily lifted your eyelids. Lifting your head off of Emil’s shoulder, you turned your head, blinking as light struck your eyes.

“We’re almost there. Buckle up.” He said. Still rubbing the sleep out of your eyes, Emil just decided it would be faster if he buckled you in himself. Once you realized he buckled you in, you just sighed and laid your head back on Emil’s shoulder. He rolled his
eyes, but glanced down at you with a loving smile on his face.

After a good 10 minutes, the plane landed, causing it to jerk. Your eyes shot open, instantly awake. Until you realized you landed. Groaning, you dropped your head back onto Emil shoulder. He let out a low chuckle.

“_____, it’s time for you to wake up. Fully.” He said. You just groaned again, and lifted your head groggily.

“Good morning, sunshine.” Emil said before he kissed your cheek teasingly. You just shot him your, “I’m not amused” glare, before shaking your head and rolling your eyes.

By the time the plane parked, and people started getting up, you were fully awake. Once if was your turn, you and Emil stood up, grabbed your bags, and exited the plane. Emil led the way out of the airport, having been here so many times before. You followed close behind, not wanting to get caught up in the throng of people.

Soon you were out of the airport. You both caught a cab to go to Emil’s apartment that he owned on the outskirts of Reykjavik, since he visited so often. Once you both got there, you set your bags down, and planned on what to do next.

“Well, Matthias, Lukas, Tino, and Berwald should be here sometime next week. So that leaves today and the rest of the week to us. I already have plans for tonight at sunset, but if there’s anything you want to do until then, that’s fine.” He said. You thought for a moment.

“No, not really. What do you have planned for tonight?” You asked him, curious.

“It’s a secret.” He said, smirking playfully at you. You gave him a pouty face, and
his smirk turned into a laugh. You just rolled your eyes, and then headed for the kitchen.

“Do we have anything to eat…?” You asked.

Emil shook his head. “No. We still have to go out and buy some food.” He paused. “Want to do that now?” He asked.

    “Sure, let’s go.”

~Time skip~

By the time you and Emil got back from shopping, it was 5:30 PM. Since it was the beginning of April, the sun set at 8:30, which left a few hours of time for you and Emil to kill. In the meantime, Emil just decided to drive you around the area, showing you different things about Iceland. Once that was done, it was 8:00 PM.

“Okay, _____. Since where we are going is walking distance, we’re just going to walk… also, I want you to wear a blindfold.” He looked at you, and you just blinked back.

“Ready?” He asked. You nodded, and he came around your back. Wrapping a black blindfold over your eyes, he began tying it in the back. Once he was done, he grabbed your hand, and led you out of the apartment. You didn’t like the idea of wearing a blindfold, but you trusted Emil not to get you killed by a truck or something.

As Emil led you throughout the town, you could feel yourself slowly gaining elevation. You could also tell he was leading you uphill. You thought of the different places he could be taking you. To a park? A fair? A dinner…? Still having no idea what he had planned, you just simply followed him.

After what you guessed was 25 minutes, Emil stopped. You stopped next to him, and you felt him let go of your hand. You panicked for a second, until he gently spoke up.

“We’re here.” Your heart pumped with anticipation as you slipped off the blindfold. The first thing you saw when you took off your blindfold was Emil’s smiling face. He gazed lovingly into your eyes, before turning his head in the direction in front of you. You also turned your head, wondering what he was looking at. Your eyes widened and mouth gaped at the sight before you.

You were on a hill that looked over Reykjavik. The sun was setting right behind the city, setting it in an orange glow.

“It’s… its beautiful…” You managed to say.

Emil smiled. “I know. I like to come here when I’m stressed or upset, or just want some peace and quiet. It’s so calm up here…” He trailed off, still looking at the beautiful landscape. After a few seconds, Emil sat down on the soft grass, and patted the place next to him, telling you to join him. You happily did since your legs had started hurting.

It didn’t take long for the sun to set. As it did, the lights of the city grew brighter and brighter, until the sun had fully set. You both sat there, and stared over the city. After a while, you glanced over at Emil, wondering how long you guys were going to sit here. Emil just smiled, and then leaned backwards so he was lying on his back, his eyes facing the night sky. You did the same, wondering what he could be looking at. As your eyes scanned the sky, you didn’t see much of anything. You turned to face Emil.

“What are we looking at?” You asked.

A small smile graced his lips. “Wait for your eyes to adjust. Then you’ll see.” He said. “Oh, and, you’ll see something else in a few minutes.” He shot you a knowing smile, and you just frowned. As you turned your head to look back at the sky, you saw it. Stars; millions of stars. Heck, you could even see the Milky Way with your naked eyes, even though it was just a big haze. As you stared up at the sky in awe, a chilly wind pierced your skin. Shivering, you cuddled close to Emil, not used to it being this cold in April. Emil just smiled, and gently placed his hand on yours, and then slipped his fingers in between yours. After a few moments of silence, you spoke up.

“So… what is it that we’re waiting for?” You asked.

    “You’ll see.”

You huffed at his reply, but kept staring up at the sky, wondering what he could be waiting for.

   And then you saw it.

Blue, green, and purple lights. They first came from one side of the sky, but after a few minutes, you could see them moving more towards the middle of the sky. As your brain tried to find a word to describe it, words ran through your head. Beautiful. Enchanting. Wondrous. Warming. Calming. Amazing. You your head over to look at Emil’s face. His face was cool and calm, his azure eyes staring up at the sky. His platinum blonde hair reflected the colors of the Northern Lights, causing it to shine. His pale skin glowed under the sky. As you looked back up to his face, your cheeks flushed as your (e/c) eyes met azure. He just smiled at you, and then turned his head back to look at the sky again. You did the same.

As you continued to stare up at the beautiful light show, you felt Emil’s hand start to get moist. He also started fidgeting, and his heart raced faster.

“Emil, are you okay?” You asked, concern written all over your face.

“Uh… Well… I have something to ask you…” He drifted off, not meeting your eyes.
    “And that is…?” You prompted.

He sighed. “I hope this can do the talking.” He then reached his hand into his pocket, and pulled out a small, black, velvet box. Your eyes slightly widened at the sight of this, and you sat up in a sitting position as he handed the box to you. As you slowly opened it up, Emil just looked away, afraid of what your face would show. As you finally lifted the lid as far as it could go, you just stared at it, a thousand thoughts running through your head.

Inside of it was a beautiful silver ring, with a (e/c) gem on it, which perfectly matched your eyes. You glanced up at Emil, who was now sitting up next to you. He just smiled a nervous smile at you, and then looked back down at his hands.

“Are… are you asking me to marry you?” You asked, an incredulous look on your face.

He still wouldn’t look you in the eye. “Já …”

A few tears streamed down your face, you being unable to hold them back. As Emil looked up, a look of horror and rejection crossed his face.

“_____, I’m so sor-” Emil didn’t get the chance to finish, being interrupted by your lips smashing into his. At first he stiffened up in surprise, before he quickly melted into the kiss, his body relaxing. As you wrapped your arms around his neck, his snaked around your waist, pulling you closer to him, deepening the kiss. But the kiss was short lived, as how your bodies needed air, and was too stubborn to wait any longer. Once you two broke apart, Emil smiled lovingly at you.

“So, I take that as a yes?” He asked.

You smiled. “Yes.” You wrapped your arms around him, pulling him in for a hug. He tightly hugged back.

“Ég elska þig, _____.” Emil said, barely above a whisper.

    “I love you too, Emil.”

~Extra~

You plopped down on the couch next to Mathias, who was currently bugging Lukas. Emil was talking with Tino, and Berwald was just standing silently next to Tino. You just sat there, observing everyone. Until you felt someone grab your left wrist.

“Hey… what do we have here?” Mathias said, a grin on his face. Your eyes widened as you saw he was looking at the ring that was on your left hand’s ring finger. Mathias smirk grew wider.

“So, did the cool and shy Emil finally get the courage?” All eyes turned on Emil after Mathias said that. Emil’s cheeks turned pink as he found sudden interest in the floor. Then all eyes turned on you. Your cheeks also turned pink as you glanced at everyone. You sighed, knowing someone had to answer.

“Yes… Emil and I are now engaged.” You said, your once pink cheeks turning red. Mathias laughed, and then pulled you off of the couch. Before you could say “Stupid Dane”, he shoved you into Emil. Emil caught you, then steadied you.

“Then prove it. Kiss.” Mathias said with an evil smirk. You both glared at him, but as your eyes swept around the room, you saw everyone waiting. You once again sighed, and turned to face Emil.

“Let’s just get this over with.” Not even a second after you muttered that, you connected your lips with Emil’s. As you felt Emil relax, his hands grip onto your waist, and you wrapped your arms around his neck. You faintly heard Mathias whistle, Tino clap, Berwald snort, and Lukas give a small, “wow.” Once you and Emil broke away, you both looked away; face’s a dark shade of red.

    Until Mathias spoke up.

“So, when will Lukas become an uncle?”
